Whenever I want a light dessert that looks fancy without much effort, I make these dairy free cheesecake stuffed strawberries.
They look like something you would buy from a bakery, but they are actually very simple to assemble at home.

Eating dairy free can sometimes make you miss classic treats like rich cheesecake, so having an easy alternative is always helpful.
The fresh berries get dipped in dark chocolate, filled with a smooth sweet cream, and topped with crunchy crumbs.
It is the kind of bite sized dessert you can share with guests or just keep in the fridge for yourself.
Why This Recipe Is a Keeper
Classic Cheesecake Flavor – The rich dairy-free cream cheese and bright lemon zest capture the exact taste of real cheesecake.
No Baking Needed – You can skip the hot oven entirely and whip up this fancy dessert in simple, easy steps.

Crispy Chocolate Shell – Dipping the cold berries creates a snappy dark chocolate base that holds each bite together perfectly.
Fun Graham Crunch – Sprinkled crumbs on top give you that authentic pie crust texture without rolling out any dough.
Here’s What You’ll Need
- 24 Large Strawberries
- 1/2 cup Dairy Free Dark Chocolate Chips
- 1 tsp Coconut Oil
- 8 oz Dairy Free Cream Cheese, Softened
- 1/3 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Lemon Zest
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1/3 cup Dairy Free Graham Cracker Crumbs
How to Make It
Step 1
Rinse the strawberries and pat them completely dry. Slice off the stem end of each berry to create a flat top, and trim a thin slice from the pointed end so it can stand upright.
Use a small spoon or melon baller to hollow out the center of each strawberry from the top, leaving the walls intact.
Step 2
Melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil in the microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring until smooth. Dip the bottom 1/2 inch of each strawberry into the chocolate and stand it upright on a parchment-lined tray.
Refrigerate for 10 minutes until the chocolate is set.
Step 3
Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, lemon zest and salt for 1-2 minutes until smooth and fluffy. If the filling feels too soft to pipe, chill it for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Transfer the filling to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe a generous swirl into each strawberry, mounding it above the top.
Step 5
Sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs over the filling.
Step 6
Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving. These are best enjoyed the same day they are made.

Recipe Tips
Dry the Berries Inside and Out
After you hollow out each strawberry, turn them upside down on a clean paper towel for about ten minutes.
Strawberries release extra juice once they are hollowed out, and that moisture will make your dairy-free filling runny.
You will get the best results if the inside of each berry is completely dry before you dip them or add the cream.
Do Not Overmix Dairy-Free Cream Cheese
From my experience, plant-based cream cheese softens much faster than traditional dairy cream cheese.

Mix the filling on low speed just until the sugar blends in and the texture looks smooth.
If you beat it for too long, the natural oils can separate and make the filling too thin to hold a nice shape.
Use Chocolate to Seal the Bottom
When you trim the pointed tip so the berry stands upright, it is very easy to make a tiny hole in the bottom.
My favorite trick here is to make sure the melted chocolate coats that trimmed base completely.
Once the chocolate chills firm, it acts like a little plug that keeps your cheesecake filling from leaking onto the plate.

Popular Questions

Firmer block-style options like Violife or Miyoko’s create the thickest filling that holds its shape nicely after piping.
Softer tub spreads made from nuts tend to turn runny at room temperature, so choose a firm variety for the best texture.
