Dairy Free Chicken Caesar Wraps

Caesar salad has always been one of my favorite meals, but traditional versions are usually loaded with parmesan cheese.

That is why I wanted to make these dairy free chicken caesar wraps at home.

Plated dairy free chicken caesar wraps

Eating dairy free should not mean you have to miss out on that classic creamy, tangy flavor you love.

I use everyday ingredients like mayo and nutritional yeast to get that rich taste without any milk products.

Adding seasoned chicken and crunchy croutons inside a lightly toasted wrap makes this a fast and satisfying meal.

Why This Recipe Is a Keeper

Authentic Caesar Flavor – Nutritional yeast and anchovy paste create that classic, savory parmesan taste completely dairy free.

Crispy Toasted Finish – Pan-toasting the rolled wraps seals them tight while giving the tortilla an irresistible golden crunch.

Juicy Seasoned Chicken – Slicing the chicken thin ensures it stays tender, juicy, and flavorful in every single bite.

Amazing Texture Contrast – Crisp romaine lettuce and crushed croutons add a satisfying crunch against the tender chicken.

Here’s What You’ll Need

For the Caesar Dressing

  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Anchovy Paste
  • 1 Garlic Clove, Grated
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Water

For the Wraps

  • 1 1/2 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 Large Head Romaine Lettuce, Chopped
  • 1 cup Dairy Free Croutons, Lightly Crushed
  • 4 Large Flour Tortillas

How to Make It

Step 1

Whisk the mayonnaise, lemon juice, nutritional yeast, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, anchovy paste, garlic, pepper, and water until smooth and creamy.

Step 2

Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally and season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook in the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 5-6 minutes per side until golden and 165°F, then rest for 5 minutes and slice.

Step 3

In a large bowl, toss the romaine and crushed croutons with about three quarters of the dressing until evenly coated.

Step 4

Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet for 15-20 seconds per side so they fold without cracking.

Step 5

Fill the center of each tortilla with Caesar salad and sliced chicken, then drizzle with the remaining dressing. Fold in the sides and roll up tightly.

Step 6

Place the wraps seam side down in the skillet over medium heat and toast for 1-2 minutes per side until golden and sealed. Slice in half and serve.

Recipe Tips

Butterfly Your Chicken

When you slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally, make sure they are equal in thickness. This ensures they cook through at the same speed without drying out.

If one side is thicker than the other, the thin end will become tough before the thick side is finished cooking.

Adjust the Dressing Texture

You might notice the dressing is quite thick because of the mayonnaise. I suggest adding the water one teaspoon at a time until it reaches a smooth, pourable consistency.

It should be thin enough to coat the lettuce leaves easily without weighing them down or making the wrap soggy.

Keep the Lettuce Crisp

Do not toss your lettuce and croutons in the dressing until you are ready to assemble the wraps. Lettuce wilts quickly when it sits in a heavy sauce for too long.

If you wait until the last minute, you will have a satisfying crunch in every single bite.

Popular Questions

What is the purpose of nutritional yeast in the dressing?

Nutritional yeast gives the dressing a savory, cheesy flavor that mimics traditional parmesan cheese without using any real dairy.

It also helps thicken the mixture so it clings nicely to the crisp romaine lettuce and chicken.
